As I mention elsewhere, I added DC to the list because I've lived there and felt it wasn't fair on the District to be left off. If people want to add Puerto Rico, they can.

And I'm going to implement, because I know thessalian will get use out of it, a list of Canadian provinces and territories:

1) Alberta
2) British Columbia
3) Manitoba

5) Newfoundland
6) Northwest Territory
7) Nova Scotia

And you managed to avoid the usual noodling about "DC isn't a state! It shouldn't be on that list!" Bravo. ;>

(As far as I'm concerned, it's got its own zip, it's written in specifically in addresses, it's treated as separate from Maryland, it's the capital of the country and not some island in the Pacific we annexed for God-knows-why - it's as close to a state as it needs to get. But I also work a lot with mail, so I have a slightly skewed perception of these things.

Northwest Territories got split into the Northwest Territories (the western half) and Nunavut.

There was a lot of discussion over that - if they were calling one half Nunavut, what were they going to call the other half? My favorite choices were "Alluvut" or "The Restuvut."

But they stuck with NWT. Oh, well. (:

As an aside, although your list is technically correct, Newfoundland is usually tied in with Labrador in one go. So "Newfoundland & Labrador." But that's nitpicketty.
