No black hoodies at my Franklin County polling place, but considering that I was roughly the second youngest person there, that's no surprise. (I wore my Chicon 2000 red on black ON MY PLANET, I AM NORMAL t-shirt; the youngest guy there was wearing a hooded Eagles jersey. Most of the other voters were about my parents' age. Editorializing to follow.

No, Franklin County, PA. Specifically, Chambersburg. I'll be watching to see if boocheridoo (the only other Chambersburger I know of on LJ) posts about seeing any black hoodies at the polls.

Since you're considerably more in-tune with political news than I am, what was the reaction when Eminem spoke out against Bush two years ago on The Eminem Show? Has there been any uproar over rap artists like Mos Def, Saul Williams and Talib Kweli constantly attacking him?

I'm just asking because a lot of the music I listen to has been of the "Screw you, Dubya" mentality for a few years now and has not gotten any press, yet Eminem suddenly galvanizes (minor exaggeration, but still) a group of people. It feels very... condescending.

It's a reasonable question, mang, but I honestly don't remember. I think I missed it back in the day, and there's been enough shit over the dam since then that I kind of lost track.

Probably, but from my perspective, it's blended into the background noise of Oh They Don't Support The President The Troops And Mom's Apple Hot Dog Baseball Chevrolet Pie that I only notice when I see someone really egregious about it (like our old fiend rann or any of the people s.z. blogs about).

Ow! Yeah, it is appalling that a white homophobic rapper can get the attention that a black rapper, regardless of opinions on the differently attracted, can't. On the other hand, most of this particular groundswell was generated on line, the words and the images combining with word of mouth. It was like the speck of dust thrown into supercooled water that instantly creates an ice cube and possibly throws shards of glass all over the table. If that metaphor makes a lick of sense. ^_^
