[Aberrant] A photograph from this time shows Narcosis meeting in Havana with a figure who, apart from his casual dress, appears to be Divis Mal.

md_donighal was unable to tell me what specific day of the month it was. "Remember, Austin," he said calmly when I asked him, "it was more than half a lifetime ago for me, and it wasn't something I considered important enough to remember a specific date. In your own often-used words, I didn't know there was going to be a quiz." He tells me he suspected her interest in him was at least partly sexual, but he was too much of a gentleman to let her down as hard as was required, "the more fool I."

*ahem* You weren't listening as closely as you thought, youth. What I actually said was that I tried, several times, to tell her gently I wasn't interested in siring her child, even if my heart hadn't belonged to Jeremiah. I never told her firmly, though; that's what I meant by "the more fool I."
