Recently,

etherlad participated in the meme of telling how you used your invite codes. I never had any invite codes to give (that I know of, at least), but I may as well tell the story of how I got the one I used to get here.

In my first post, I said that I got this journal through a grant from the

takhisis Foundation. Here's the post, on

flemco's journal, where I made the comment that got me that invite code.

As I recall it,

sclerotic_rings had just made (for the Nth time) one of the many jokes about W that help him keep his sanity in the face of this adsinistration — quoting the early draft of 43's inaugural address that ran "Uh-huh huh-huh. Whoa. Huh-huh. This sucks worse than anything that has ever sucked before."

I decided to go him one better, with a gag I'd been circulating privately for a while (quoted here because I'm so fucking proud of it):

What you forgot to mention is that the speech you quote was actually the second draft. Not that the first was any great loss, mind you. My sources tell me it was all downhill after the opening words: "Lazarus, come forth! Humperdido!"

The Dark Queen obviously got it, judging from her reaction. I assume Jay got it too, based on this strip. I know

thessalian will get it too, and she's got me to blame for that.
