Interview time again
Feb. 4th, 2004 03:40 pmJust because I'm not answering your questions in the order they were received, that doesn't mean to say they're not important to me. Once again, this being an interview post, you can put your interview requests here, or at any of the prior sets of interview answers.
These questions were posed by
melpomenes_mask.
1: What drew your attention to Marcus for INL?
As I told
cpip, it was Saminga's post that mentioned him. What I didn't go on to say was that, after reading said post, I got to thinking "So, if he delivered the painting to Saminga, what happened to the servants who ran off with it?" Within minutes, I had Thumbs and Perdita in mind. I didn't know if I was ever going to get to play with it, but now that I have, I'm actually glad my Archangel Marc app got nixed.
2: You've had, what, thirty different nicknames on the Ballad et al by now? [grins] What's your favorite and why?
If you count all the different things I've been a Djinn of, I suppose it comes to thirty, yeah. [grins back] I think my favorite is the current one, just because it's so OTT being a Fire-Eating Giant Monkey.
3: What three songs have you listened to the most recently? (If these were all off the same CD or tape, then what three bands/singers were most recent?)
"You Say" (Vertical Horizon), "Head Over Feet" (Alanis Morrisette), "The Safety Dance" (Men Without Hats).
4: You can have up to four superpowers of your choice, but you must have at least one weakness for every two superpowers, and each weakness must be tied to at least one superpower. (I.e., X-ray vision might make you blind; superstrength might make you slow as hell; wings might result in Miles Vorkosigan or beyond levels of size issues...) How do you stat yourself?
Super-stretchiness, shapeshifting a la Plastic Man and enhanced intelligence. As for aberrations... ^_^ Maybe a tendency for my face to "stick that way", as it were; that is, if I take the shape of a fire-hydrant, it takes me a while to convince my body to grow arms and legs again once the necessity for the masquerade ends. If I have to take a second weakness because I picked three powers, then emotional detachment.
5: What's your favorite IN character (that you've made and RPed) and why? Favorite RPG PC in general?
Amazingly enough, I don't think I've ever made an IN character. (Truth to tell, I haven't RPed much, because I don't interact well face-to-face.) In terms of RPing, both in general and IN specific, I think I like playing Marcus because he's such an utter bastard.
And these questions were posed by
etherlad:
1. What interests you about the Trinity Universe?
What got me interested in it was its mysteries, and I think that's still what interests me in it. The TU is fundamentally an Illuminated continuum (making it, in many ways, no surprise that Æon eventually turned into just another set of Secret Masters).
2. You're put in charge of the TU games' revision into d20. Aside from rules, what setting changes would you make?
I don't know if this counts as a setting change, but the main thing I'd do would be to include, in the DM's information, several different versions of Æon's ultimate secrets and let individual DMs choose which one(s) they want to use. (I suspect reluctance to put that sort of information where players could get their hands on it was what scuttled White Wolf's plans for a Trinity Storytellers Handbook.)
3. What made you decide to do the whole "Today in the Trinity Universe" thing in Livejournal?
To start with (back when it was going to be told from Hugh's POV), the fact that this alternate future was steadily turning into the present, and then the past, every day.
4. It's March 23rd. The International Space Station explodes, disseminating mysterious radiation throughout the atmosphere. What superpowers would you like to develop? Which would you be likely to develop?
I think I'd like to develop the same package I described above the Plastic Fantastic combo of malleability and Mega-Intelligence. In practice, if powers are based on personality, I suspect I'd turn into some sort of disappearing skulker (like Eclipse from Aberrant: Teragen) or some other sort ofjoker Taint-Buttered Monster™.
5. You discover a doorway. Advanced technology, magic, it doesn't matter... what does matter is that this door can take you to any world you like, either in our real universe, from literature, or from your imagination. You can bring anyone you like, but it's a one-way trip. Where do you go?
Definitely a universe with superhumans in it. My top candidates are the TU, the DC Universe and my own Doc Dashing universe (a sort of Aberrant meets Astro City meets the Wold Newton Families deal).
