[EDITED 6:30 PM to unfuck a really sloppy piece of HTML.]
And my copy of Guardians of the Veil is arrived. New legacies? Neat. New spells and artifacts? Cool. The 49 Masques?
To review: my Virtue of Temperance puts me in that class of Masques known as the Viziers. If my Vice is indeed Pride (as the Paths of Fate identified it), the Masque that represents me would be the Untwisted Branch, "far-reaching wisdom and unshakeable loyalty." But, again, I feel more like the Runehold, conjunction of Temperance and Sloth, "smart, but passive... prefer research and tinkering to the practical aspects of their fields. They're happy to talk about what they know, but hate the pressure of a workplace, a client or anything else that constrains their private studies."
Now for my pups.
last_master's Virtue of Charity puts him among the Beloved: Greed would denote the Lancet Master ("an expert healer", but one who "will not relinquish a penny of payment"), while Sloth points to the Weaver of Whispers (who "happily helps people meet to succeed at a common goal, but won't take any responsibility for what transpires"). As with the Paths, Sloth comes closer to the canonical version.
md_donighal's Vice of Pride, if combined with Charity, would indicate Lord Incarnadine, "the ruler who sacrifices himself for his subjects... and expects to be rewarded for his martyrdom with accolades and deeper loyalty." With Faith (the Virtue I think is closer to his), he's that Devout masque called the Heretic, "identified with their ideology to the point where they view opposition as personal affronts." (Y'know, come to think, the Heretic/Sun is Mal as he was in the Nova Age, while Incarnadine/the Hanged Man is a lot like the way I play Michael these days [or, in IC terms, the way he's been acting since he emerged from his Personal Space.)
good_or_awesome's Vice is also Pride, which ought to get in the way of his friendship with "Diggy Small"; maybe he just faces the truth that Hiro faced vis-a-vis Raven, that in terms of bad mofo mojo, Michael has him outclassed. Prudence would put him among the Exactors, bearing the Scepter "of hard-nosed rulers [who] want efficiency and respect from their underlings." Justice would make him a Magistrate, a Diamond Triangle, who "believes that hard work ought to be rewarded" and "fights to rid [his] profession from regulations that hold back the gifted — or help novices, for that matter." I can see more of the Scepter in him than I could of the Queen of Swords, as I see more of the Last Judgment than the Diamond Triangle. (In particular, he's been known to fall into the common Scepter trap of valuing respect over efficiency.)
I can bore those of you who took the test the first time, or who want to take it now, with your own Masques if you want.
