On this day in 1972, Randel Portman was born in New York City.
If I didn't think people other than
etherlad (and those I'm bringing here from
aeoncontinuum) might read this, I'd just stop there. But there are people who read this thing for reasons other than the Trinity Universe stuff (or, at least, so I assume from all the people on my friendlist who aren't necessarily into that sort of thing), so I'll explain.
We don't know a lot about what Portman was doing for the first 26 years of his life. People in the Trinity Universe may, but I haven't seen any Aberrant supplement that really touched on the issue.
We know that by 1998, he was working for the New York Fire Department. In that capacity, he responded to a terrible crash, which I mean to cover in more detail when I get to the anniversary of the day it happened March 23, 1998. N-Day. The day the lid blew off the phenomenon of eximorphism.
Suffice it to say, for now, that Portman extinguished a school bus fire by literally absorbing the flames into himself. (At least, that's how it looked outwith a purely quantum level.) That's how he became the first known nova.
They called him the Fireman, obviously enough. Project Utopia snapped him up pretty soon. And the rest is history...and futury.
