It bears mentioning, again, that the TU's Benedict isn't CardinalPalpatine Ratzinger, but Mario Bardi. It's also worth mentioning that he came to his epiphany after a conversation with Alejandra.
Opus Dei were not happy. Its prelate-general, Dionigi Tettamanzi (who in OTL is only an Opus Dei sympathizer and the Archbishop of Milan), was doubly unhappy with papal liaison Roderigo Alta for the encyclical (which contravened Opus Dei's position that tolerance for novas was suffering diviners and "such as have familiar spirits") and for letting His Holiness meet with an aberrant in the first place. Alta was ordered to wear his cilice full-time (which led to his death from a heart attack induced by poisoning the thigh-chain).
