Some of you are like "Benedict XVI? WTF, mate? What happened to John Paul II?" Well, what happened to him in the TU happened in 2001, as it must to all men. (Or, as![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
md_donighal points out in my head, to all baselines and many novas.) Cardinal Mario Bardi got the eligo, much to the disgust of Opus Dei, who were sure they'd got the fix in. (And the Aberrant writers came up with this before Dan Brown made Opus Dei the baddies in The Da Vinci Code.)
Fun fact: Antonin Scalia is a member of Opus Dei. When I heard he'd talked about having attended orgies, I got an image of him standing in a pleasure dome, naked except for his cilice. (Actually, that's unfair of me; as a supernumerary, he may never have even heard of the cilice.)
